Useful Information About Foreclosures

Just because some homeowners are struggling with their mortgage doesn’t mean the end result is a foreclosure. Posts in this category provide information to help homeowners avoid foreclosure and still get a fresh start.

Resources about foreclosure can be basically broken down into three sections.

  • First and probably most important are the resources intended for homeowners facing the possibility of foreclosure. If you are a homeowner facing foreclosure, unless you have the funds needed to bring your account current, you only have two options. You’ll need information about loan modifications and short sales. Loan modifications are usually not the smart financial solution and really only intended to specific circumstances. Learn more about ways to avoid foreclosure.
  • Then, we have resources available for home buyers interested in buying homes or properties that are are in pre-foreclosure. These properties are also referred to as short sales. Remember, if buying a short sale property it is possible to get a good deal, but just because the home is a short sale does NOT necessarily mean you’re going to get a good deal. There are many factors, so you need to do your homework first. See current listings of short sale properties now on the market.
  • Last are those resources available for buyers specifically interested in buying homes or properties that have already been foreclosed. Foreclosed homes are often sold at auction but many are not put up and instead placed on the local real estate market. Yes, there are risks associated with buying foreclosures, so again, we urge doing your homework. See current listings of foreclosed homes.
