Here’s a quick preview of Sage at Sand Canyon, a brand new housing neighborhood now under construction in the Sand Canyon area of Santa Clarita. Built by Lennar, Sage is located just off Sand Canyon Road, north of the 14 Freeway, within the new Sand Canyon Village development and joins a growing list of neighborhoods throughout Canyon Country.
It’s worth noting, there are a few other SCV neighborhoods called “Sage”. To help avoid confusion, this guide specifically covers Sage at Sand Canyon. Scroll down to watch the video tour, view photos, and find links to additional new housing neighborhoods and communities throughout Santa Clarita.

About Sage at Sand Canyon
Sage at Sand Canyon is a modern new housing neighborhood featuring a mix of paired and detached homes within the Sand Canyon Village development of Canyon Country. Builder plans call for approximately 118 paired homes and 16 detached homes arranged across two separate sections of the community. The larger portion of Sage is positioned along a slightly elevated hillside area, while a smaller first phase section is located just below it.
The surrounding Sand Canyon Village area has also seen major improvements including new roundabouts, sidewalks, trails, and nearby shopping conveniences designed to support the growing community.
Like it or not, Sage marks a noticeable shift in the types of homes being built in the Sand Canyon area. Rather than traditional homes, the neighborhood consists of three-story paired homes designed for today’s low maintenance lifestyles. Yes, the homes are quite nice, but if you prefer more privacy, outdoor space or have a hard time climbing stairs, it’s a no go!
Home Descriptions
Homes at Sage at Sand Canyon range from around 1,800 to nearly 2,500 square feet and come with three or four-bedrooms and 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms.
The homes feature modern architecture, attached garages, and open-concept living spaces. Depending on the floor plan, the first floor includes either a den or a bedroom with a full bathroom. The primary living space, powder room, and covered deck are located on the second floor, while the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms are up top. The laundry area is conveniently located on either the second or third floor. Some homes also include a bonus room or an additional deck connected to the primary bedroom.
Because Sage features primarily modern three-story homes, the neighborhood may not appeal to every buyer. If you prefer a more traditional two-story home design with backyards, you may also want to explore nearby Pelona Hills, located just next door.

Outdoor Enjoyment
Unlike many new master-planned communities, Sage does not include extensive private recreational amenities such as swimming pools or clubhouses. However, plans for the Sand Canyon Village development do include a small park near Pelona Hills, providing residents with a relaxing outdoor space. The community also features newly completed sidewalks, making it easy to enjoy longer walks throughout the area.
There are also developed trail systems along Sand Canyon Road which are great for cycling, jogging or longer hikes.
Just outside the community, Oak Spring Canyon Park is located about a mile down the road. We’ve spent time here and it’s quite lovely, especially during the spring when the trees burst into lovely pink blossoms. We think they are Western Redbud trees. There’s also a large greenbelt, playgrounds, trails and picnic areas.
Schools and Local Conveniences
Several schools are located nearby, including Mitchell Community Elementary School for elementary grades, along with Sierra Vista Junior High and Canyon High School for secondary education. These schools are part of the Sulphur Springs School District and the William S. Hart Union High School District, which serve much of the surrounding area.
For convenience shopping and dining, it’s less than a half mile to the new Sand Canyon Village Shopping Center, located at the base of the community. There’s also the Vons shopping center that has been around for years for years.
Public Transportation
There’s a nearby bus stop and it’s less than 2 miles to the Metro-link.
